Conservative Voting Performance – Methodology

The Madison Performance Index (MPI) is a novel yet simple measure that illustrates how each Republican member is living up to the conservative expectations of their respective districts.

Methodology Overview:

The Madison Performance Index (MPI) measures how closely a member of Congress is overperforming or underperforming the expected conservative score for his or her district.

By understanding voting records within this context, we can better use the electoral map to push for stronger, more principled conservatives, especially in conservative districts.

Delve Deeper:

What the MPI tells us:

Unfortunately, we have found that most members are underperforming, with many dramatically underperforming. This impacts our potential to promote conservative values, especially from highly conservative states and districts.
