Tom McClintock is one of those rare members whose utility to the conservative movement far exceeds his score, which is already pretty high (95.5%). He is a warrior on fiscal and social issues and is one of the few members who are able to speak with passion and authority on all issues during floor debates. He has an almost perfect record on fiscal issues and was one of the few members to vote against Boehner’s initial debt ceiling deal (that contained a balanced budget amendment but gutted Cut, Cap, and Balance). As a member of the Budget Committee, he has been a leader in crafting the RSC budget during his 6 years in Congress. The votes that knocked down his overall score come mainly from his foreign policy votes. He has been a true conservative leader in California and in Congress. We hope he continues on this path for many years to come.
