Tom Cole, now in his 8th term, came to Congress in 2003 as a conservative representing Oklahoma’s 4th district. But in recent years, he has served in numerous leadership positions; the steering committee, NRCC chairman, and deputy whip; these positions have oriented him towards the views of the establishment on cutting spending and the size of government. With a disappointing 55% Heritage Action rating, Cole has established himself as a reliable vote for pork and for propping up failing government agencies. He sits on three of the House’s most pivotal committees: Appropriations, Budget and Rules. The dynamic 4th can do better.
