A 3rd term Republican, Byrne has represented Alabama’s 1st district since 2013, when he won a special election after the resignation of Jo Bonner. He sits on the Armed Services, Education, and Rules committees; he is a member of the Republican Study Committee. Byrne holds a C grade (75%) from Heritage Action, and in 2017-18, disappointed fiscal conservatives by backing the bloated 2018 budget, the extension of CHIP, and unpaid-for disaster relief. It’s not clear what spending bills he won’t support.
